The name „Ama Dablam” literally means „mother’s necklace” in the Sherpa language – the long ridges resemble the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, whilst the hanging glacier is a dablam, a traditional pendant bearing the image of the gods worn by Sherpa women. This mountain is not just a technical challenge – it is a symbol, an icon and one of the most coveted Himalayan trophies for experienced mountaineers.

From the summit of Ama Dablam, a breathtaking panorama of the world’s highest mountains unfolds – Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,485 m) and Cho Oyu (8,188 m). The route is incredibly picturesque, and the views from the summit are stunning.
