The name „Ama Dablam” literally means „mother’s necklace” in the Sherpa language – the long ridges resemble the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, whilst the hanging glacier is a dablam, a traditional pendant bearing the image of the gods worn by Sherpa women. This mountain is not just a technical challenge – it is a symbol, an icon and one of the most coveted Himalayan trophies for experienced mountaineers.

Ama Dablam is a demanding climb combining rock, ice and snow, which puts every Himalayan mountaineer’s skills to the test. Ama Dablam commands respect, but is within the reach of a well-prepared adventurer. From a distance, the mountain makes an intimidating impression. From the summit of Ama Dablam, a breathtaking panorama of the world’s highest mountains unfolds – Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,485 m) and Cho Oyu (8,188 m). The route is incredibly picturesque, and the views from the summit are stunning.
What can you expect on your way to the summit of Ama Dablam?
- First of all acclimatisation trek, which should not be underestimated. Although your main goal is much higher up and requires considerable skill, the acclimatisation trek is very important and is the first crucial stage of the expedition

- Mushroom Ridge – a narrow, snow- and ice-covered ridge with a vast expanse
