For anyone who has trekked the trail to Everest Base Camp or, more generally, through the Khumbu region, this majestic peak does not go unnoticed; for many, it exudes a certain magic, capturing their gaze and fuelling dreams of conquering it.

The name „Ama Dablam” literally means „mother’s necklace” in the Sherpa language – the long ridges resemble the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, whilst the hanging glacier is a dablam, a traditional pendant bearing the image of the gods worn by Sherpa women. This mountain is not just a technical challenge – it is a symbol, an icon and one of the most coveted Himalayan trophies for experienced mountaineers.

Although it does not exceed 7,000 metres, this mountain has earned international respect amongst climbers due to its unique shape and technical challenge – proving the adage that „you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover”.

A technical challenge for experienced mountaineers

Ama Dablam is a demanding climb combining rock, ice and snow, which puts every Himalayan mountaineer’s skills to the test. Ama Dablam commands respect, but is within the reach of a well-prepared adventurer. From a distance, the mountain makes an intimidating impression. From the summit of Ama Dablam, a breathtaking panorama of the world’s highest mountains unfolds – Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,485 m) and Cho Oyu (8,188 m). The route is incredibly picturesque, and the views from the summit are stunning.

What can you expect on your way to the summit of Ama Dablam?

First of all acclimatisation trek, which should not be underestimated. Although your main goal is much higher up and requires considerable skill, the acclimatisation trek is very important and is the first crucial stage of the expedition

Day 1 – Welcome to Nepal
Day 2 – Preparing for a mountain adventure.
Day 3 – Direct flight to Lukla, acclimatisation.
Day 4 – Lukla–Jorsale.
Day 5 – Jorsale – Namche.
Day 6 – Namche to Tyangboche (3,860 m), about 5 hours.

Day 9 – 18 – The time required for preparation and the actual mountaineering ascent of Ama Dablam.

Miałam przyjemność uczestniczyć w niezwykłym trekkingu Everest Base Camp przez Gokyo i przełęcz Cho La Pass. To była niezapomniana przygoda, która na długo pozostanie w mojej pamięci! Meroway Adventure Nepal zasługuje na najwyższe uznanie za fantastyczną organizację, pełen profesjonalizm i dbałość o każdy szczegół. Cała wyprawa przebiegała sprawnie, bezpiecznie i zgodnie z planem.
Ogromne podziękowania należą się naszemu doświadczonemu Sherpie SONAMOWI, który z wielkim profesjonalizmem, spokojem i pewnością prowadził naszą grupę przez całą trasę. Od rezerwacji noclegów, przez organizację posiłków po opiekę przewodników, których na koniec nazywaliśmy aniołami stróżami(widzieli wszystko sekundę zanim się wydarzyło :) ) - wszystko dopięte na ostatni guzik. A do tego Ngodu i Palden przez całą wyprawę budowali doskonałą atmosferę, odpowiadali na wszystkie pytania(trzeba pamiętać, że w Nepalu jest zawsze płasko ... ;)) i byli po prostu świetnymi kompanami w przemierzaniu rejonu Khumbu. Jako niedawny uczestnik ww. szkolenia jestem pod ogromnym wrażeniem jak merytorycznie został on przygotowany i przeprowadzony. Przekazywana wiedza była niezwykle skondensowana, konkretna i – co najważniejsze – przedstawiona w niezwykle jasny oraz przystępny sposób. Meroway Adventure Nepal  dokonało czegoś wyjątkowego, stworzyli program, który dedykowany jest do każdego uczestnika, bez względu na posiadane przez niego doświadczenie - osoby początkujące dostaną solidne fundamenty bez poczucia przytłoczenia skomplikowaną terminologią, a doświadczeni uczestnicy mogą usystematyzować swoją wiedzę, poznać najnowsze standardy bezpieczeństwa i wejść na wyższy poziom wtajemniczenia ;).
Szkolenie to nie było "suchą teorią", ale wypelnione było ogromną ilością zajęć praktycznych. Każdy kolejny dzień szkolenia był logiczną kontynuacją poprzedniego. Ważnym ogniwem spajającym teorie i praktykę, byli ludzie którzy je prowadzili 🫶. Profesjonaliści z ogromnym doświadczeniem wysokogórskim, a przy tym niesamowicie wielkimi zapasami cierpliwości :) Dosłownie, każde (nawet najprostsze) pytanie spotykało się z wyczerpującą i życzliwą odpowiedzią. Instruktorzy bacznie obserwowali każdego z nas, korygowali błędy na bieżąco i dawali spersonalizowane wskazówki, dzięki czemu każdy robił postępy we własnym tempie. Brałam udział w profesjonalnym szkoleniu: Bezpieczni w Himalajach organizowanym oczywiście przez MAN ;) Program był świetnie przygotowany i łączył solidną dawkę wiedzy teoretycznej z intensywnymi ćwiczeniami praktycznymi. Instruktorzy: czyli Nima i Arek Brzoza (PZA) to doświadczeni pasjonaci, którzy potrafią przekazać wiedzę w jasny i konkretny sposób, jednocześnie dbając o bezpieczeństwo każdego uczestnika. Dużym atutem było skupienie się na umiejętnościach niezbędnych podczas wypraw wysokogórskich – od technik wspinaczkowych i poruszania się w trudnym terenie, po planowanie, zarządzanie ryzykiem oraz podejmowanie właściwych decyzji w wymagających warunkach. Atmosfera podczas szkolenia sprzyjała nauce i zadawaniu pytań, a każdy element programu miał praktyczne zastosowanie.
To doskonałe przygotowanie dla osób planujących ambitne wyprawy, w tym ekspedycje w Himalaje. Po ukończeniu szkolenia czuję się znacznie pewniej i okazało się, że nie taki diabeł straszny jak o malują :D Zdecydowanie polecam każdemu, kto poważnie myśli o górach wysokich i chce przygotować się do nich w odpowiedzialny sposób !!! :)
