An expedition combining a trek to Everest Base Camp with the ascent of one of the world’s most popular trekking peaks
Island Peak, officially known as Imja Tse, is much more than just a peak. It is a gateway to the world of high-altitude mountaineering, a place where dreams of the Himalayas become reality. Our 20-day expedition combines a classic trek through the legendary Khumbu Valley with a technical ascent of this spectacular peak, standing at an altitude of 6,165 metres.



Why Island Peak?
It is one of the most accessible six-thousanders in the world, yet at the same time a true Himalayan challenge. During the expedition, you will not only conquer your first – or another – Himalayan peak, but you will also reach Everest Base Camp, stand on Kala Patthar with a view of the world’s highest mountains, and cross the spectacular Kongma La pass. This approach route is the perfect acclimatisation trail and a unique experience in its own right.
The summit of Island Peak offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Himalayas – Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam and Nuptse in all their splendour, just like in a perfect photograph. It’s a sight that stays with you for a lifetime.

What makes this trip special?
- A technical challenge for the ambitious
- Island Peak is what is known as a. Trekking Peak according to the NMA classification, but this expedition should not be confused with trekking alone. Island Peak is a peak with real character – you’ll be using crampons and an ice axe, traversing a glacier in a harness, and tackling a steep snow and ice section with a gradient of 40–50°. It is an excellent training ground for high-altitude climbing, which will prepare you for future challenges or serve as a rewarding and ambitious challenge in its own right.

Relax in the city’s tourist district – Thamel – where you’ll experience Kathmandu’s unique atmosphere.

Our an expedition to Island Peak This trip is designed for people in very good physical condition, ideally with experience of high-altitude mountaineering, although this is not essential. If you want to experience both trekking and climbing a trekking peak, this expedition is ideal for you.
