Leaving Gokyo, we’ll set off towards Cho La Pass (5,420 m), and once we’ve crossed it, we’ll head for the base camp at the foot of the world’s highest mountain! During our trek, we’ll also reach another extraordinary vantage point, Kala Patthar (5,545 m), which will set our hearts racing – and not just from the exertion. Many travellers skip this spot, not believing they’ll see anything special – which is a shame! It’s one of the most scenic spots on the trekking route in the Himalayas.
We’ll explore many of the region’s historic sites, admire the majestic, soaring mountains, the villages of the friendly Sherpas, including their capital – Namche Bazaar; we’ll see thousands of prayer flags; we’ll visit a Buddhist monastery along our route; and much, much more. We’ll, of course, sample local delicacies and the region’s cuisine, and learn about the customs of the area. Gokyo, a hidden valley with stunning cobalt-blue lakes at the foot of the Himalayas, has a reputation of its own amongst intrepid travellers.
