About the training course

CLIMBING COURSE LEVEL 2 – SAFETY IN THE HIMALAYAS

Take it to the next level!

LVL 2 is an advanced preparatory course for those who already have some experience in high mountains, are familiar with at least the basics of mountaineering, and are considering technical peaks in the Himalayas, as well as those who aspire to more ambitious goals than peaks such as Island/Lobuche Peak, whether in the Himalayas or other mountain ranges.

During the course, we focus on the practical skills that are essential in challenging terrain and high mountains. The training takes place in conditions similar to those found in high mountains, with a strong emphasis on self-reliance, responsibility and making the right decisions in extreme situations.

Who is this training course aimed at?

  • For those planning technical trekking peaks or more challenging summits in the Himalayas or other high mountain ranges
  • For those who have completed the LVL1 course or a similar course (a solid grasp of the basics of climbing is a prerequisite for taking part in the training)
  • For climbers wishing to develop the skills required to climb safely above 5,500 metres above sea level.
  • Anyone who needs thorough training in belaying and navigating difficult mountain terrain

Important: this training course is intended for adults.

What will you learn – the practical module?:

  1. Advanced belaying and rope work techniques
  2. Navigating difficult mixed and glacial terrain
  3. Anchoring belay stations in the rock face and on the glacier
  4. High-altitude mountain rescue technician
  5. Planning operations in exposed terrain
  6. Emergency response at high altitudes

What will you learn – the theory module?:

  1. Altitude sickness – how to prepare for it and what to do if it „strikes”.
  2. Equipment advice – how to prepare for technical expeditions in the Himalayas.
