About the expedition

Himlung Himal 7,126 m – An expedition that will introduce you to the world of the great peaks

Imagine a morning at base camp: thin wisps of steam rising from a cup of tea, the crackling of ice beneath your crampons, and a silence broken only by the wind. Above you — a white amphitheatre Himlung Himal (7,126 m), and in the distance, the monumental massifs of Annapurna and Manaslu.

This is more than just a high-altitude expedition. It is a deliberate transition from trekking to technical summits – through rugged, wild valleys, glaciers and moraines – until you stand on the summit of one of Nepal’s most beautiful seven-thousanders.

Your first expedition to a seven-thousander – well-planned, professional and safe.

Imagine a mountain that doesn’t shout about its fame like Everest, but mesmerises with its rugged beauty, vastness and sense of seclusion. Himlung Himal, situated in the wild Nar-Phu region not far from the Tibetan border, is a peak for those seeking the pure experience of the high mountains, without the crowds and queues for the cable car.

With the height 7,126 m, Himlung is the ideal destination for ambitious climbers and experienced trekkers who want to take their first step into the world of seven-thousanders. It is a mountain in the shadow of legendary colossi, such as Manaslu and Annapurna – but that is precisely why it offers something more: silence, space, authenticity.

The route takes you through ancient Tibetan villages, monasteries blending into the landscape, glacial tongues and rugged mountain passes. The climb itself is a mix of technical challenges, changeable weather and indescribable beauty. At dawn, from the summit, you’ll see a panoramic view of five eight-thousanders, and in my heart – something far more than just a goal achieved.

It’s a trip that changes a person. You set off as an enthusiast. You return as someone who has truly got to know the Himalayas.

Why is it worth it?

  • The perfect first seven-thousander – for those with trekking experience who want to take it to the next level.
  • A technical challenge with full support – ice, rock faces, handrails, changeable weather.
  • 100% Logistics – Meroway is the only Polish agency (tour operator) that is also a Nepalese mountaineering agency with full on-the-ground logistical support in Nepal
  • Safety and care – licensed high-altitude guides with experience on Himlung! (among others), a planned and proven acclimatisation programme, an expedition plan, an emergency kit for crisis situations, and arrangements for assistance should it be necessary
  • Intimate groups – a personalised approach and a flexible programme.
  • 100% – satisfaction among existing participants!

Climbing Himlung is an excellent stepping stone between summiting your first six-thousander(s) – such as Lobuche, Island or Mera Peak – and before setting out on the path to higher and more challenging peaks, including eight-thousanders.

Climbing Himlung can also be a goal in its own right, without any plans to go higher or tackle a more difficult route, as the mountain itself offers a wealth of fascinating sights and experiences, and the trekking route leading up to it, through the Nar Phu and Manang valleys, is a true journey back to times that seem long gone, thanks to the extraordinary traditions, customs and culture of the local people. This isolated, peaceful peak is the perfect combination of beauty, adventure and experience for ambitious beginner and intermediate climbers.

The climb itself is not technically demanding; compared to other seven-thousand-metre peaks, it could be described as relatively easy. Of course, the difficulties should not be underestimated; the expedition requires proper preparation, caution and sound decision-making throughout.

As standard, we set up three camps during the ascent. Base camp at an altitude of 4,925 metres, Camp 1 at 5,435 metres (roughly the same altitude as Everest Base Camp), Camp 2 at 5,800 metres and finally, Camp 3, at 6,210 metres. As with any major mountain, we ascend cautiously, avoiding crevasses, negotiating steep ridges and slopes, reaching the summit and then making a safe descent back down to base camp.

The best time of year for a trek to Himlung Himal is late spring, i.e. April–May, and autumn, specifically October–November. During these periods, statistically speaking, the winds are not strong, it is sunny, temperatures are relatively mild, and the trekking route offers lush greenery, the chance to admire beautiful mountain rivers and streams, surrounded by the soothing sounds of birds and animals and the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding peaks.

What’s in store for you?

  • Trekking through the Nar-Phu region – ancient villages, monasteries and unspoilt nature.
  • Setting up high-altitude camps – Base Camp, Camp I, Camp II.
  • Summit attempt at 7,126 m – and a return in expedition style.
  • Views of five eight-thousanders – a panorama of life.
  • Recharge and celebrate success in Kathmandu.

Polecam kurs wspinaczkowy. Po trzech dniach szkolenia mam pojęcie na czym polega wspinaczka i znam różne techniki wspinania. Doskonali instruktorzy - Nima i Mariusz, pomagali, wspierali i dodawali otuchy przestraszonym uczestnikom.

Meroway Adventure Nepal to coś więcej niż zwykła agencja trekkingowa — to ludzie🫶, którzy pomagają spełniać marzenia🏔️ i przekraczać własne granice. Jestem mega szczęśliwa i wszystkim polecam z całego ❤️

Przemek
