Nepal has introduced significant changes<\/strong> w regulations governing freight forwarding<\/strong>. The new regulations include<\/strong> fee increases<\/strong>, compulsory guides<\/strong> and new procedures<\/strong> relating to safety<\/strong> i certificate of summit achievement<\/strong>. The changes have come into force<\/strong> 3 February 2025<\/strong>, and most of them<\/strong> will be be in force<\/strong> from the autumn season<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key changes to the climbing regulations in Nepal for 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. How much does it cost to climb Everest? New rates for 2025<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Costs of climbing permits<\/strong> have risen, particularly in Mount Everest<\/strong>, where fee for foreign nationals<\/strong> is now 15,000 USD<\/strong>. The costs of permits have also risen<\/strong> on other peaks<\/strong>, particularly in the spring season<\/strong>. Costs have also risen<\/strong> permits for trekking peaks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one of the most important changes<\/strong> affecting delivery costs<\/strong> i availability<\/strong> Everest climbs<\/strong> for international mountaineers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. A mandatory guide for 8,000-metre peaks \u2013 a new safety rule<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A requirement to employ a guide has been introduced<\/strong> or Sherpas<\/strong> for each pair of climbers<\/strong> on peaks over 8,000 metres<\/strong>. In the lower mountains<\/strong> that\u2019s enough one guide for the whole expedition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This change<\/strong> significantly will affect delivery costs<\/strong> on eight-thousanders<\/strong>, but its aim is improved safety<\/strong> on the world\u2019s highest peaks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. New rules for summit certification<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To reach the summit<\/strong> it was officially recognised<\/strong>, the following are required<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Document confirming the legality of the consignment<\/strong>
A photograph of a climber at the summit<\/strong> z a panoramic view of the mountains in the background<\/strong>
Confirmation of reaching the summit<\/strong> from members of the expedition<\/strong>, Sirdara<\/strong>, guide<\/strong> or a worker at height<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the expedition leader<\/strong> fails to provide these documents, Confirmation may be given<\/strong> by High-altitude sirdar<\/strong> in collaboration with liaison officer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Longer expedition times to peaks below 7,000 metres<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Duration of the expedition<\/strong> on peaks under 7,000 metres<\/strong> was elongated<\/strong> z 45 to 55 days<\/strong>. This more time<\/strong> on acclimatisation<\/strong> i safe climbing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changes affecting a smaller group of climbers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

6. Legal paragliding descents from mountain peaks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Climbers can now legally<\/strong> \u201eto \u201dcome down\u2019 from the mountains<\/strong> on paragliders<\/strong>, provided that obtaining the relevant licence<\/strong>. This new<\/strong> for enthusiasts<\/strong> extreme sports<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. New procedures in the event of the loss of the expedition leader<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If the expedition leader<\/strong> will go missing, will be injured serious injuries<\/strong>, resigns or dies, his duties are taken over by the Chief Sirdar<\/strong>. However, it will not be<\/strong> responsible for the success of the expedition<\/strong> nor will not be granted any additional privileges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. New regulations on waste disposal and the \u201etransport\u201d of bodies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Every application for a licence<\/strong> must include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number and weight of the equipment<\/strong> being transported above base camp<\/strong>
The number and layout of the tents<\/strong> w base<\/strong>
Information<\/strong> o any attempts to break records<\/strong>
Map of the expedition area<\/strong> i a copy of the climber\u2019s insurance policy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Significant pay rises for dispatch staff<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Salaries have been increased<\/strong> for people working on mountaineering expeditions<\/strong>. This will certainly have an impact<\/strong> on delivery charges<\/strong>, because the changes are significant<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These pay rises<\/strong> mean as much as a threefold increase<\/strong> salaries, which will have a significant impact<\/strong> on total delivery costs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11. Fee increases for Nepalese climbers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Nepalese, too<\/strong> will pay more for the ascent of Mount Everest<\/strong> \u2013 the price of permits<\/strong> rose to 150,000 NPR<\/strong> w the spring season<\/strong>, instead of the previous ones 75,000 NPR<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
