In line with best practice, this is acclimatisation on a less demanding peak. Next, through the harsh, high-altitude wilderness, we reach the base camp at Baruntse. There, we rest, plan our summit push, and when conditions are right \u2013 we set off for the summit. We\u2019ll face ice climbing, rock faces, high-altitude camps and, finally, the reward: the view from the summit at 7,129 metres above sea
