class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our expedition has been planned on the basis of the experience of the Nepalese Meroway guides and their practical knowledge of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Kathmandu \u2013 preparations and check-in<\/strong>a<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">equipment check, team briefings, debriefings and formalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Flight to Tumlingtar and transfer to the starting point of the trek<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The start of the journey through the green landscapes of the Arun Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Trek to Makalu Base Camp<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around 9\u201310 days\u2019 trek through some of Nepal\u2019s most varied landscapes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>subtropical forests,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>terraced fields and mountain villages,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>steep mountain passes,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the glaciers of the Barun region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trek ends in <strong>Makalu Base Camp (approx. 4,780 m)<\/strong>, where the climbing section begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Acclimatisation and altitude rotations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gradual ascents to higher-altitude camps \u2014 essential for a safe ascent of an eight-thousander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Climbing Makalu<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Makalu is a technical eight-thousander, offering:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>steep sections of snow and ice,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>work on handrails,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>numerous crossings across the glacier,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>exposure and highly variable weather conditions,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>challenging, long approaches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The summit push depends on the conditions and the weather window \u2014 we work at the team\u2019s optimal pace and in accordance with safety guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6.
