This trek, also known as the Poon Hill Trek, is a not-too-long and relatively easy trek through Nepalese villages, with scenic views of mountain peaks, rhododendron and bamboo forests. Despite its relative ease, the route is sure to be exciting and allow you to enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes, especially from the top of Poon Hill, considered by many hikers to be the best vantage point in the Annapurna region.

This is an ideal trek for those looking for a relatively short trek in the Himalayas wanting to see the eight-thousanders in person. It’s also an ideal trip for families and people who can’t afford big mountain challenges.

Offer description

During the expedition we will reach a maximum altitude of 3210 meters above sea level, but we will climb it gradually, without too strenuous approaches. Therefore, every Participant, even of average physical fitness, will be able to feel confident and comfortable during this trek.
You will test your fitness during the approach to Ulleri Hill, climbing more than 3,000 stone steps. This path is one of the longest of its kind in the world. The effort, however, will pay off. Imagine the awe-inspiring sunrise over the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, when the sun will bring out from the darkness more mountain massifs, the magical panorama of the eight-thousanders-tall giants …. you will be enchanted!
Part of this adventure is a guided tour of Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, where we will visit many sites, including those listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites (including the Hindu Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Shrine and Durbar Square). Then, after proper preparation, we will head to the quiet town of Pokhara, which is a base camp in the higher reaches of the Himalayas.
The real trekking will begin from Nayapul. As we trek through Ulleri and Ghorepani, we will be accompanied by Nepalese landscapes and the richness of nature. You will trek through colorful rhododendron and bamboo forests, with remarkable mountain peaks, including two eight-thousand-meter peaks – Annapurna (8091m) and Dhaulagiri (8167m) as your companions in the struggle. When we reach our destination, Poon Hill (3210 m) – in addition to the panorama of the mountains, we will also be able to admire the extraordinary terraces of rice fields. The variety of views makes this region a real rarity for anyone who appreciates beautiful, unremarkable travel photos. We will then head towards the charming village of Ghandruk, inhabited by the Gurung people. They are an extremely hospitable people, whose culture and traditions you will also learn about at the local museum. We will continue trekking through forests of rhododendrons, which in spring are stunning in their fever of colors, blooming in various shades of red and pink. We will then head downhill to Birethanti. Passing through waterfalls, we will pass several small villages and settlements. Finally, we will reach Nayapul, from where we will return to Pokhara, which we will also explore. It is a charming and picturesque resort town with its own unique character.
The program of this trek is designed for people who love hiking in the mountains, without looking for too demanding trails. Mostly short treks of a few hours await you, in stunning scenery, allowing you to touch the real magic of the Himalayas and the unique Nepalese culture. This is also a good route for families with children, as long as they are used to hiking.

Program

Day 1 - Welcome to Nepal. Preparing for the trek.

Day 2 - Travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara, about 8 hours. In the evening, walk to Fewa Lake.

Day 3 - Travel from Pokhara to Tikhedunga (1540m). Overnight.

Day 4 - Trekking to Ghorepani (2860m). Duration about 6 hours.

Day 5 - Approach to Poon Hill, return via Ghorepani and hike to Tadapani (2630m). Total of about 8 hours.

Day 6 - Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m). Duration about 3 hours. Relaxation.

Day 7 - Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and then travel to Pokhara. Trek approximately 4 hours, 1 hour travel.

Day 8 - Getting to know Pokhara.

Day 9 - Travel from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Rest.

Day 10 - Getting to know Kathmandu.

Day 11 - Farewell and return home.

It is possible to opt out of food in the benefits and pay for food yourself. Then the cost of the expedition is lower by about 250 – 300 USD. It is also possible to take a domestic flight between Kathmandu-Pokhara or/and Pokhara-Katmandu resigning from bus transportation.

My family and I have already traveled around the world, but nowhere else have we had such good care ( thx Furden;) ) or such a well-tailored program. Everything was as we wanted and when we wanted it, including the express rescheduling of a helicopter flight to Annapurna base camp because the weather was forecast to break, or arranging alternate transportation after internal flights between Pokhara and Kathmandu were canceled (Furden was invaluable here!) . I first met the Meroway hosts nine years ago, even before the agency was established, so I'm a bit of their "godfather." And during the trek they took care of me like a family member. And we ended up in extremely unfavorable conditions, and this care and help was really needed. It is the quality of the agency that proves itself not in sunny weather and a trouble-free trip, but when complications arise, to name a few: constant rain, landslides and rockslides blocking the roads not only for jeeps but also for pedestrians, or, at higher altitudes, the surprise of winter conditions in the middle of autumn. I highly recommend.

I was with Meroway on a trek to the base camp under the EBC via the CHOLO PASS and GOYKO pass from 7-30/10/2022. The excellent care of professional and experienced guides allowed us to achieve all our planned goals. In addition, the organizer turned out to be very flexible and allowed us to change the initial route so as to pass the beautiful CHOLO PASS. I highly recommend trips with them:) It was divine.

Takie opinie czytałam, slyszałam jak planowaliśmy ten trip. To jest kompletnie nieprawda. Nie wiem z jakimi agencjami i przewoźnikami ci ludzie mieli do czynienia, ale nasze doświadczenia są całkowicie inne. To była moja pierwsza podróż do Nepalu, mojego partnera kolejna, ale to było dawno temu. Od samego początku dostaliśmy mnóstwo informacji, które nam były potrzebne, szybką odpowiedź na każdego maila, wszystko rozpisane krok po kroku. Mam wrażenie, że Nima i Paulina byli tylko dla nas. Po przylocie zostaliśmy odebrani przez Nime z lotniska w środku nocy a w dodatku nie musieliśmy się martwić o hotel na te parę godzin, wszystko było dograne. I tak to trwało przez następne kilkanaście dni. Każdy dzień zaplanowany, przewodnik super przyjacielski gość z sercem na dłoni. Podróż z nim była przyjemnością. Od pierwszego dnia czułam, że to jest człowiek godny zaufania. Poszliśmy na 9 dni w góry i nie wyobrażam sobie aby było inaczej. Podczas trekingu nie musieliśmy martwić się o NIC. Wszystko było zaplanowane, zarezerwowane, wszystkie pozwolenia, bilety, transport (przed i po). Byliśmy zaopiekowani w każdym momencie. Był naszym przewodnikiem, opiekunem i nepalskim bratem. Przez całą drogę nosił owoce aby każdego dnia po obiedzie zrobić nam deser. Tak wiem, wielu tak robi, ale wiecie jak smakuje jabłko z granatem i bananem na ponad 4000 metrów po kilku ciężkich dniach marszu z pełnym plecakiem (nie mieliśmy tragarza), kiedy twój organizm jest kompletnie wyjałowiony a dal bhat nie zaspokaja twojego pragnienia na witaminy 🙃. Zawsze mówię, że małe rzeczy potrafią uczynić cuda. Cały ten trip był magią, moje największe marzenie zostało spełnione i dzięki Meroway było magiczne.
A wspólna kolacja z uczestnikami innych wypraw w cudownej nepalskiej restauracji, z fantastycznym jedzeniem, pokazem tańców to była wisienka na torcie.
